Architect Max Flatow set out to design one of the 'most unique' buildings in the country for his returning client, R.P. Tinnin. Opening as White's Department Store in 1957, this three-story International-style structure features a glass curtain wall spanning the entire north-elevation of the building, an Escher-like interior staircase, a butterfly-roofed mechanical penthouse atop its roof, and a host of other surviving original details. The steel posts jutting from its roof once supported signs. The building continues to be owned and operated by the Tinnin family.
